Challenge
How might we design a feature to help real estate agents generate leads from people who visit the website?
Solution
Designed a drop-down option allowing real estate agents to set up a login pop-up for visitors.
When the login pop-up is set, visitors will need to log in to view more housing information as soon as they arrive on the site.
Once they have visitors' contact information, real estate agents can follow up with their prospects.
Design Outcome
Display optional login pop-up
Display mandatory login pop-up
Disabled login pop-up
My Challenge for this Project
To design a feature that functions in three ways (Optional, mandatory, and disabled) and use a common language within all three options.

Design Process
Overview
My GoodReal is a SaaS platform. The platform uses data from the MLS® listing site and makes it easy for real estate agents to build their own website.
It is a web solution for website marketing, showing house listings, and managing messages to help REALTORS® and real estate agents earn more income and save time.

Problem Statement
My GoodReal is a launched product. To improve our services, we are open to users' feedback. One of our users’ pain points is the difficulty of generating leads using the My GoodReal website solution.
User Research
The purpose of the design is to help users generate leads. Applying the value exchange theory, we designed a login pop-up and created a "login required to view detailed listings" feature.
With the login pop-up set up, visitors are required to exchange their contact information to view more housing details. Real estate agents can use visitors' contact information, to follow up with them and gain prospects.

Optional vs Mandatory Login Pop-up
Optional login pop-up - visitors can close the pop-up page to view listings without providing personal information.
Mandatory login pop-up - visitors need to sign up for an account to see listings.
Optional login pop-up
Mandatory login pop-up
Persona
Most of our users (real estate agents) are immigrants and understand multiple languages. One of the pain points is finding a multilingual platform for their clients.

User Story & User Flow
User Story
Persona: Mandy Zhang, a Vancouver real estate agent
“As a real estate agent, I need a to get leads from visitors who search listings on my website, so that I can follow up with them and expand my client base”
User Flow
The user flow shows how to set up a login pop-up for lead generation to resolve Mandy’s pain point.

Usability Testing & Iterations
Drop-down Menu Iteration
Iteration 1 - I designed a drop-down option for real estate agents to choose how many listings to view before a log in pop-up appears.
Iteration 2 - without a drop-down option, real estate agents can input any number of listings to view before a log in pop-up appears.

2. Simple is the Key
The initial idea was to design one feature with four options. This feature is designed to generate leads and collect visitor information. The four options were,
Disabled login to view listing details
Optional login to view listing details
Mandatory login to view listing details
Optional login followed by mandatory login to view listing details
Iteration 1 - Simplify Feature Option
Disabled login to view listing detail pages
After the user testing, users noted a preference to keep the design & detail descriptions as simple as possible.
Based on their feedback, we decided to remove the “optional login followed by mandatory login” option and simplify the remaining 3 options.
The remaining 3 functions:
Disabled
Display mandatory login pop-up
Display optional login pop-up
Display mandatory login pop-up
Display optional login pop-up
Iteration 2- UX Writing
To keep all the instructions simple and easy to understand, the purpose of the feature description is to guide real estate agents to set up a login pop up. I simplify the feature description from
“Require account login after N listings are viewed,”
to “Pop-up sign in option after a certain number of listing are viewed, “
to the final edition “Require login to view listing detail pages” plus a question mark description for more detail information.
Final edition for the feature description in UX writing
Final Design
House listings page
Disabled login option: visitors do not need to login to view the house listing details.
Display mandatory login pop-up option: visitors have to create an account or sign in to view house listing details.
Display optional login pop-up option: visitors can choose to create an account or close the pop-up to view house listing details.

Style Guide
My GoodReal is a SaaS platform that has already been built. Currently, we are in the stage of continually improving the features and functionalities, and the “Design Style Guide” will ensure a consistent design layout and style for all designers to follow.
Key Learning
Throughout the feature design, I learned that simplicity is key. The challenge was to design and describe a versatile feature with 3 options in easy-to-understand language. We conducted user testing to collect user feedback that informed our final design.
